the "I like" list.

I have recently started this journal where document daily happenings and store little mementos.
One thing I have found myself doing is creating "I like" lists- literally, lists of things that I like.
The lists mostly serve as a reminder that when I'm feeling down, there are things in this world that I truly do enjoy.
One of the things on my most recent 'I like" is something I've always liked, Saint Exuperey's Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince, en anglais). I used to read it over and over again and last year, I even studied it in French class. I cannot even pinpoint why I like it, more like love it, so much. But, I just wanted to share a passage that I always find myself thinking about.
It's said by the Fox and translated into English (not by me, though.)

"To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world..."

I just always know that I love reading this. Take what you want from it, but take something. I think what I like about it is that it sums up the idea of friendship in a way that isn't forceful but meaningful. Does that make sense? I don't know. I think it just makes me really happy.

DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE PRONE TO PROCRASTINATION.

stumbleupon.com
sporcle.com

forget FML or MLIA, these are WAAAY better.
stumble upon is exactly what it sounds like- it's basically a search engine, though I don't think that's the right word to describe it, that allows you to "stumble upon" the coolest most fantastic websites out there on the internet!!!

sporcle.com, which i am about to describe to you, sounds lame if you have never seen it. it's basically a website full of timed quizzes. they're focused on EVERYTHING from nominated grammy albums to the moons of jupiter. Although I am slightly geeky, there are SO many cool kids who love this website. It's ridiculous.
Once you start, it's hard to peel away!

A toute a l'heure!

If all else fails

I was thinking about this one day as I was flying home and then proceeded to discuss this with my friend.
If all else fails, I'm DEFINITELY going to become a flight attendant! There are so many perks that people rarely think about. And, yes, I obviously understand that there are downsides to serving cranky people little drinks and salty peanuts, but, hey! Think about it...

- you get to travel ALL over the world for free!!!
- you get to meet a lot of cool people and talk to people all the time
- my mom once told me that flight attendants have really solid breaks every month because they travel so often, so a lot of vacation time.
- you don't have to feel obligated to get married!
- you probably get a lot of other airport benefits (ie: no annoying security lines)

so, if i don't get into college or clown school doesn't work out, you can pretty much be guaranteed to see me serving you a complimentary beverage of your choice!

My newest investment

I recently invested in some fabulous Sharpie Pens. Yes, pens that are SHARPIES. They are the most expensive school supplies item that i have ever purchased...i think.
the best part about them is that they don't bleed through the paper, which, in my opinion, is why they are so great. because you get all the fun of writing with sharpies sans the smell and the ink blots on the proceeding page!

the world is fascinating.
sorry, that wasn't very interesting. just a little blip from my mind!

Refined and re-found resolutions

well, I haven't really been keeping up with this blog, but in my mind, it's not too late to start again.

A question I always find myself asking myself is..."if i had one song to sing in talent show, regardless of my actual talent, which would it be."

I have spent a lot time pondering this predicament, but after searching through my brain and itunes library, it finally came to me. "Touch Me" by the Doors.

Why? Easy. I love the contrast between the verse and the chorus. tangent- there is only one verse and one chorus. Back to the contrast. The verse's lyrics are classic rock, somewhat weirdly sexual and almost seem void of all love for whoever Jim Morrison is singing about. But then get to the chorus and it sounds like something Frank Sinatra should be singing. All lovely and pure about this eternal love that seems so simple, beautiful.
Plus the usage of the horns and strings are waaaay cool.
If you're not familiar with the Doors and this song, check on it.
